Why Your Battery Drains Faster Than Normal

Batteries to phones, cars, gadgets, etc., are just like the heart to humans; they are the heart of gadgets because they give life to them. Now imagine having a bad battery in a car; that car probably wouldn't start, it could go off anywhere–even on a major road! -which could lead to accidents, and you wouldn't enjoy a smooth ride; so it is with a phone. Batteries don't last forever, but they can last for their designated lifespan if well managed. This article explores the causes of low battery lifespans and durability, with tips on how you can manage them.

1. Your battery could be draining faster if you are in the habit of keeping background apps running. Many don't even know this happens; you have probably powered off your phone countlessly, to discover that your battery power still drains so fast. A lot of apps (e.g Anti-Virus, Calendar) work in the background, that is, while you're not using them, and this drains battery and data too. To check this, go to your phone's setting>battery>battery usage. You can also see a "background cleanup" option there, you should click on it to clean up background apps.

2. Long screen time. Thinking of your light bulbs at home, they do not on naturally except they are powered by electricity, the same goes with a phone. Your battery discharges the power used to keep your phone's screen on. Asides from long hours of usage, you might be unaware that your screen time setting could be a reason for your battery drainage. Most time, people don't use their gadgets (phones, laptops, etc ), but their screens are always on, and they wonder why their battery drains so fast without any activity doing on. The best thing to do is to set a timer for your phone or laptop screen so that when it's not in use and the time elapses, it automatically goes off or to "sleep." To set this on your phone, go to settings>display>screen timer, then set it to your preferred time. A similar setting applies to a PC too, search for display or "sleep" setting.

3. When your battery or phone or laptop is exposed to direct sunlight, it could damage the battery as a result of overheating. Some batteries even explode or get destroyed when they are in constant exposure to direct sunlight. Make sure to be a cool space while using your gadgets

4. Maximum brightness. Ever wondered why your battery drains so fast when you're out or under the sun? Yes, that's why. Your battery has a higher work rate powering your increased phone's brightness added to the overheating, it surely would drain quickly.

5. GPS and Internet. Being connected to the internet via WiFi or data and turning on your phone's location for hours at a stretch kills the battery. When your phone or other gadgets are not in usage, turn off WiFi and location, and also limit time spent on the internet as this would preserve battery life.

Also, it could be that your battery/phone is over 2 years old. Humans grow old and die, and, of course, phones grow old and die too.

The battery and phone start wearing out after this period. It is better to not use a phone for more than 2 years for a better experience.
